Sensex Today Trades Higher; Bharat Elec & Trent Top Gainers

Asian markets were mostly trading higher on Friday, the final trading session of the week, with investors taking cues from a strong Wall Street rally and easing expectations of a US Federal Reserve rate hike.

US stocks advanced on Thursday after Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller indicated he could support keeping interest rates unchanged this month if incoming economic data confirms that inflationary pressures are continuing to ease.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 469 points higher, and NSE Nifty is trading 50 points higher.

Bharat Elec, Trent, and Titan Company are the top gainers today.

Bharti Airtel, Eternal, and ICICI Bank, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.1% higher, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.4% higher.

Sectoral indices were trading mixed, with the power sector and healthcare sector witnessing selling pressure. Meanwhile, stocks in the telecom sector and IT sector witnessed buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 94.4 against the US dollar.

POWERGRID Expands Gujarat Renewable Power Transmission Network

Power Grid Corporation of India has won a major transmission project in Gujarat through a competitive bidding process.

The project will help integrate 7,500 MW of renewable energy from the Lakadia Renewable Energy Zone into the interstate power grid.

POWERGRID will receive annual transmission charges of Rs 11.52 billion (bn), and it received the Letter of Intent on September 3, 2026.

Under the project, POWERGRID will build a new 765/400 kV Lakadia-II substation, construct 765 kV transmission lines across Gujarat, and install the required equipment and transmission bays.

It will also install and commission a synchronous condenser at the substation. In simple terms, the project will strengthen Gujarat's power transmission network and enable more renewable electricity to be transferred to the grid.


RVNL Secures Major East Coast Railway Order

RVNL has received a Rs 4.04 bn contract from East Coast Railway for the execution of railway infrastructure works.

The project includes construction of roadbeds, minor and major bridges, RUBs/LHS, buildings, supply of ballast, track linking and other allied works.

It also covers utility shifting, signalling and telecommunication (S&T) works, electrification, power supply arrangements, and shifting/modification of HT and LT power lines.

The work will be carried out between Khurda Road and Gangadharpur as part of the development of the third railway line between Nergundi-Barang and Khurda Road-Vizianagaram on the Bhadrak-Vizianagaram section.

The contract is a domestic order, awarded by East Coast Railway, with a completion period of 30 months. The total contract value is Rs 4.04 bn, including GST.
