Sensex Today Tanks 680 Points; Nifty Below 24,250

Indian share markets are trading lower with Sensex trading 680 points lower, and Nifty is trading 169 points lower.

Asian markets traded higher on Thursday, with Japan and South Korean indices hitting record highs, following overnight rally on Wall Street extension of the US-Iran ceasefire.

US stock market ended higher on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closing at record highs, led by optimism over the extension of the US-Iran ceasefire and solid corporate earnings.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 680 points lower, and the NSE Nifty is trading 169 points lower.

Power Grid Corp, Trent, and TCS are among the top gainers today.

Tech Mahindra, M&M, and ICICI Bank, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.2% lower, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.01% lower.

Sectoral indices are trading mixed today, with stocks in the auto sector and banking sector witnessing selling pressure. Meanwhile, stocks in realty sector and the healthcare sector witnessed buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 94.1 against the US dollar.

Trent Q4 Results

Shares of Trent are in focus today after the company reported its Q4 FY26 results.

Trent Ltd reported a 30% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 4.55 billion (bn) in Q4 FY26 supported by stronger customer demand following GST cuts last year and continued store expansion.

On a consolidated basis, revenue increased 19% to Rs 50.28 bn, while net profit rose 33% to Rs 4.13 bn. However, on a sequential basis, net profit declined 19% from Rs 5.10 bn in the previous quarter.

During the quarter, Trent opened 23 Westside stores and 109 Zudio stores (including 2 in the UAE), expanding its presence to 47 cities.

In Q4 FY26, the company's store portfolio comprised 300 Westside outlets, 963 Zudio stores (including 6 in the UAE), and 23 stores across other lifestyle concepts, with a total retail footprint exceeding 17.7 million square feet.

The company announced a final dividend of Rs 6 per share for FY26. It also proposed a bonus issue of shares in a ratio of 1:2, meaning shareholders will receive one bonus equity share of Re 1 each for every two fully paid-up equity shares held, subject to shareholder approval.

Tata Communications Q4 Results

Shares of Tata Communications came into focus after the company reported its Q4 FY26 results.

Tata Communications reported a 9.4% increase in fourth-quarter revenue, driven by strong demand for cloud infrastructure and high-bandwidth cable services within its data services segment.

Revenue from its core data services business grew 11.5% to Rs 56.84 bn, helping lift overall revenue to Rs 65.54 bn for the quarter.

However, profit declined to Rs 2.63 bn for the three-month period ended March 31, compared with Rs 10.40 bn a year earlier, when earnings were boosted by a one-time gain from the sale of a stake in a subsidiary.

Eveready Opens Jammu Alkaline Battery Plant

Eveready Industries India Limited has opened India's only alkaline battery manufacturing plant in Jammu, inaugurated by Manoj Sinha.

The plant, built with an investment of about Rs 2 bn, can produce up to 360 million batteries annually (with installed capacity of 456 million).

It will help reduce imports, support local manufacturing under the 'Make in India' initiative, and create over 500 jobs.

The facility is eco-friendly, with solar power, rainwater harvesting, and zero-discharge systems.

It will also help Eveready expand in the fast-growing premium alkaline battery market and strengthen its presence in India and global markets.
