Sensex Today Tanks 617 Points; Nifty Below 23,200

Indian share markets are trading lower with the Sensex trading 617 points lower, and the Nifty is trading 191 points lower.

Asian markets traded lower on Monday amid escalating war in the Middle East and surging crude oil prices.

US stock market ended sharply lower on Friday, ending its nine-week winning streak, weighed down by a sharp slump in technology stocks.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 617 points lower, and the NSE Nifty is trading 191 points lower.

Sun Pharma, SBI, and Power Grid Corp are among the top gainers today.

M&M, TCS, and Tata Steel, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.7% lower, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.7% lower.

Sectoral indices are trading mixed today, with stocks in the oil & gas sector and the metal sector witnessing selling pressure. Meanwhile, stocks in the healthcare sector and the hospital sector witnessed buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 95.2 against the US dollar.

Oil India Strengthens Andaman Exploration Case

Oil India Ltd (OIL) has discovered natural gas in its third exploratory well in the Andaman offshore region. This is the second well in the block to confirm the presence of hydrocarbons (oil and gas).

The well, named Vijayapuram-3, was drilled about 15 km off the east coast of the Andaman Islands in water that is 355 metres deep.

During testing, OIL found natural gas at a depth of over 1,900 metres. The gas flowed continuously during the test, confirming the discovery. The company is now collecting gas samples to study its quality, energy content, and origin.

Earlier, in September 2025, OIL had discovered natural gas in another well called Vijayapuram-2 in the same block.

So far, OIL has drilled three exploratory wells in this offshore block, and two of them have successfully found natural gas, strengthening the area's exploration potential.

TVS Launches Exclusive Premium Paddock Channel

TVS Motor Company has announced TVS Paddock, a new retail channel dedicated to its premium motorcycle portfolio. Scheduled to launch in the second quarter of FY27, TVS Paddock is aimed at offering customers more exclusive and personalized ownership experience that goes beyond simply buying a motorcycle.

The initiative comes as demand for premium mobility products continues to grow in India, with customers increasingly looking for customization, brand engagement, and community-driven experiences. Through TVS Paddock, the company plans to bring together premium retail, personalized services, after-sales support, accessories, merchandise, and community interactions under one platform.

According to Chairman Sudarshan Venu, the future of premium motorcycling will be shaped not just by products but by the experiences and ecosystems built around them. TVS Paddock is designed to strengthen customer engagement and create deeper connections with riders through immersive experiences and tailored services.

The retail format will feature a digitally integrated buying journey, dedicated customization areas, premium customer spaces, and a design inspired by TVS Motor's engineering and motorsport heritage. The company believes this new platform will help improve the overall ownership experience for its premium customers.

RailTel Bags Significant Uttar Pradesh Contract

RailTel Corporation of India has secured a work order worth Rs 413.2 million from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. The contract is for providing security-related support services during recruitment examinations.

The order will be executed by 5 June 2028, and the company has clarified that it is not a related-party transaction.

RailTel, incorporated in 2000, was set up to build and operate nationwide broadband, VPN, telecom, and multimedia networks for Indian Railways. Its broader goal is to support modern communication systems that improve railway operations, control, and safety.
