Hindustan Zinc Q2 FY27 Results
Shares of Hindustan Zinc came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY27 results.
Hindustan Zinc reported more than a two-fold increase in quarterly net profit, supported by higher zinc and silver prices and increased production.
Consolidated net profit stood at Rs 64.12 billion for the three months ended September 30, compared with Rs 26.49 billion a year earlier.
Net profit margin rose to 42% from 31% in the year-ago quarter. The Vedanta Group company operates across the mining, processing and refining of zinc, lead and silver, as well as wind power generation.
The results come amid a surge in zinc prices, driven by supply disruptions and expectations of a global market deficit.
Hindustan Zinc's mined metal production increased 5% year-on-year to 271 kilotonnes during the quarter, while refined metal production rose 7% to 264 kilotonnes.
Silver production climbed 20% to 173 tonnes, while revenue from silver sales more than doubled.
Zinc production costs, excluding royalty, declined 29% to $703 per tonne, supported by higher production, improved ore grades and increased consumption of renewable power, the company said.
The company, which commands roughly three-fourths of India's zinc market, reported a 76.5% increase in total revenue from operations to Rs 150.93 billion.
