Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty50, settled higher as risk appetite improved among investors after oil prices declined and global bond yields softened.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed 564 points higher (up 0.7%)

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 68 points higher (up 0.2%)

HCL Tech, Eternal, ITC are the top gainers today.

Infosys, Bharti Airtel, and Tata Steel, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The GIFT Nifty was trading at 23,438, with 77 points higher at the time of writing.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.02% lower, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.09% higher.

Sectoral indices were trading mixed today, with stocks in the IT sector and realty sector witnessing buying. Meanwhile, stocks in the telecommunication sector and power sector witnessed selling pressure.

#1 Easing Crude Oil Prices:

Brent crude prices fell 2.25% to $101.5 per barrel, raising hopes of a recovery in oil shipments from Saudi Arabia. Lower crude prices supported market sentiment.

#2 Foreign Fund Inflows:

Foreign investors turned buyers in Indian equities after seven straight sessions of selling. Domestic institutional investors also continued to support the market with fresh buying.

#3 Positive Global Cues:

Asian markets traded higher, with South Korea's Kospi, Shanghai's SSE Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng in positive territory. US markets also ended mostly higher on Friday, supporting investor sentiment.

#4 Value Buying:

Investors picked up stocks that had fallen to lower levels, leading to value buying. This came after the Nifty and Sensex recorded their sixth consecutive weekly decline.

The rupee is trading at Rs 95.8 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.5% lower at Rs 1,53,530 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 0.5% lower at 2,40,300 per 1 kg.

Mazagon Dock Signs MoU for Shipbuilding Cluster

Shares of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders came into focus after the company has signed an MoU with National Shipbuilding & Heavy Industries Park Andhra Pradesh to participate as the Anchor Shipyard in the proposed Greenfield Shipbuilding Industrial Cluster at Dugarajapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The project aims to build a globally competitive shipbuilding ecosystem with an annual capacity of at least 1.2 million Gross Tonnage.

NTPC Green Energy Adds Solar Capacity

Gujarat Energy Development Agency has declared 68.22 MW of the 200 MW Gujarat Solar PV Project at Dahod, Gujarat, commercially operational from July 23, 2026. The project is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy.

With this addition, the NTPC Green Energy Group's total installed capacity has increased to 10,911.08 MW, from 10,842.86 MW.

NTPC Green Energy is the renewable arm of NTPC, a Maharatna CPSE, generating power through solar, wind, hydro, and increasingly green hydrogen and battery storage.

It's a pure play on India's energy transition. The parent, NTPC Ltd, holds 89%.
