IRFC Signs Major Refinancing Deal with HURL

Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Railways, has entered into a major Rupee Term Loan agreement with Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited (HURL) to refinance its existing long-term debt of up to approximately Rs 128.4 billion (bn).

This refinancing is one of IRFC's significant initiatives under its strategic direction (IRFC 2.0) and follows a whole-of-government approach. The arrangement is expected to provide HURL with more favourable financing terms and a repayment structure aligned with its cash flows. This should improve financial flexibility, enhance debt servicing efficiency, and allow the company to focus more on operations and future growth.

The project is also closely linked with the railway ecosystem. HURL's plants are well connected through railway infrastructure, and the transportation of fertilizers is coordinated with Indian Railways. The company has also put systems in place to ensure smooth handling of rail freight payments, reflecting its integration with the rail network.
