Although the benchmark indices opened lower, they traded negative throughout the session and ultimately closed red.

Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty50, declined as financial services and bank shares weighed amid rising geopolitical tension.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex  closed 455 points lower (down 0.5%)

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 65 points lower (down 0.2%)

Tech Mahindra, HUL, HCL Tech are the top gainers today.

Bajaj Finance, TCS, and Maruti Suzuki, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The GIFT Nifty was trading at 24,661, 86 points lower at the time of writing.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.1% higher, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading higher.

Sectoral indices were trading mixed today, with the banking sector and the realty sector witnessing selling pressure. Meanwhile, stocks in the IT and auto sectors witnessed buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 95.1 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 1.4% higher at Rs 1,51,007 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 3.5% higher at 2,33,846 per 1 kg.

SBI Q1 Results

Shares of SBI came into focus after the company reported its Q1 FY27 results.

On a standalone basis, SBI reported a net profit of Rs 211.1 billion for Q1FY27, up 10.23% from Rs 191.6 bn in the corresponding quarter last year. Sequentially, net profit increased 7.30% from Rs 196.8 bn reported in Q4FY26.

On a consolidated basis, the bank posted a 13.73% year-on-year increase in net profit to Rs 241.1 bn during the June quarter.

Net interest income (NII) rose 14.88% year-on-year to Rs 469.9 bn, compared with Rs 409.1 bn in Q1FY26. The domestic net interest margin (NIM) improved by 7 basis points (bps) over the previous quarter to 3.0%, while the whole-bank NIM stood at 2.86%.

Operating profit increased 9.77% year-on-year to Rs 335.3 bn during the reporting quarter, according to the bank's regulatory filing.

Total income rose to Rs 1,430 bn from Rs 1,350 bn a year earlier, while total expenditure increased to Rs 1,100 bn from Rs 1,040 bn.

Asset quality also improved during the quarter. Credit cost declined to 0.27% from 0.47% a year ago, while the slippage ratio eased to 0.57% from 0.75% in the corresponding period last year.

Tata Investment Corporation Q1 Results

Shares of Tata Investment Corporation came into focus after the company reported its Q1 FY27 results.

Tata Investment Corporation, a non-banking financial company (NBFC) promoted by Tata Sons, reported a 2% year-on-year decline in net profit for the June quarter of FY27 (Q1FY27).

The company's net profit stood at Rs 1.44 bn, compared with Rs 1.46 bn in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Revenue from operations increased 4.5% year-on-year to Rs 1.52 bn from Rs 1.45 bn in the year-ago period. Dividend income rose by around 25% to Rs 1.13 bn during the quarter.

Vikram Solar Q1 Results

Shares of Vikram Solar came into focus after the company reported its Q1 FY27 results.

Vikram Solar reported an 85% year-on-year decline in net profit for the June quarter (Q1FY27), with profit falling to Rs 0.20 bn.

Despite the sharp decline in earnings, revenue from operations increased nearly 38% year-on-year to Rs 15.63 bn during the first quarter of FY27.

EBITDA declined 48% year-on-year to Rs 1.26 bn, while the EBITDA margin contracted to 8% from 21% in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
