Indian equity benchmarks indices, Sensex and Nifty50 finished higher, with pharma, private bank, and oil and gas shares providing support and traders awaiting the outcome of the Reserve Bank of India's policy meet outcome.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex  closed 429 points lower (down 0.7%)

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 173 points lower (down 0.6%)

Kotak Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank are the top gainers today.

Titan Company, Bharat Elec, Asian Paints on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The GIFT Nifty was trading at 22,610 with 164 points lower at the time of writing.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.6% lower and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.04% higher.

Sectoral indices traded mixed today, with selling pressure witnessed in the realty sector and metal sector, while stocks in telecommunication sector and insurance sector attracted buying interest.

The rupee is trading at Rs 96.7 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.4% lower at Rs 1,49,396 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 1% lower at 2,24,774 per 1 kg.

Kalyan Jewellers Q2 FY27 Results

Shares of Kalyan Jewellers came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY27 results.

Kalyan Jewellers reported strong performance in the quarter, with consolidated revenue rising more than 26% year-on-year (YoY). The growth was supported by strong sales across its key markets, despite a high base from last year.

In India, revenue grew around 27% in Q2 FY27, while same-store sales increased 20%. The international business also performed well, with revenue growing around 18%. In the Middle East, revenue increased about 12%, driven entirely by growth from existing stores.

International markets contributed around 11% to the company's total revenue. During the quarter, Kalyan opened 12 new showrooms in India, while Candere added nine stores. The company also opened a Kalyan showroom in the UK.

Candere, Kalyan's lifestyle jewellery brand, delivered impressive growth of around 64% YoY. Looking ahead, the company remains positive about the upcoming festive and wedding season, with new collections, marketing campaigns and showroom launches planned to support growth.

Mphasis has extended its collaboration with Social Security Scotland to manage and maintain the agency's benefits management platform, which supports around 2 million citizens across Scotland.

Under the agreement, Mphasis will provide ongoing support and maintenance for the platform that handles important functions such as benefit applications, eligibility decisions and payments. The focus will be on keeping the system stable, secure and reliable so citizens can continue to access essential benefits without disruption.

Social Security Scotland is one of the Scottish Government's largest executive agencies and provides various social security benefits, including disability and heating support. The partnership is also expected to help reduce the risk of operational issues and major service disruptions.
