
Although the benchmark indices opened lower, they traded negatively throughout the session and ultimately closed red.
Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty50, extended losses into the third session, as a spike in oil prices fanned worries about the inflation outlook and rising bond yields weighed.
At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed 374 points lower (down 0.4%)
Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 141 points lower (down 0.5%)
NTPC, Titan Company, Trent are the top gainers today.
HDFC Bank, HCL Tech, Bharat Elec, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.
The GIFT Nifty was trading at 23,963, 87 points lower at the time of writing.
The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.5% lower, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.4% lower.
Sectoral indices were trading mixed today, with the power sector and the realty sector witnessing buying. Meanwhile, stocks in the IT sector and auto sector witnessed selling pressure.
The rupee is trading at Rs 94.9 against the US$.
Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.9% lower at Rs 1,50,230 per 10 grams.
Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 1.1% lower at 2,32,816 per 1 kg.
Hero MotoCorp Announced August Sales Update
Hero MotoCorp's share fell on Wednesday despite a 2.65% rise in total sales to 5.68 lakh units in August, compared with 5.54 lakh units a year ago.
However, the overall sales growth was affected by weaker motorcycles and export sales. Motorcycle sales declined 1.53% to 4.94 lakh units, while exports fell sharply by 24.6% to 26,093 units.
The decline in motorcycle and export sales raised concern among investors, which weighed on the share price despite the growth in total sales.
Hero Moto Corp earlier also known as "Hero Honda" is one of India's first motorcycle manufacturers.The company started in 1984 as a Technological collaboration with Honda, Japan. Before this collaboration, Hero was selling Cycles under the brand name, Hero Cycles.

NMDC Reports Strong Iron Ore Production Growth
NMDC reported strong growth in iron ore production in August 2026. Its iron ore production increased 20.77% year-on-year to 4.07 million tonnes (MT), compared with 3.37 MT in August 2025.
Iron ore sales also increased, rising 5.60% to 3.58 MT from 3.39 MT a year earlier.
The company's Chhattisgarh division recorded a 19.46% increase in production to 2.64 MT, while sales grew 10.09% to 2.51 MT.
Production from the Karnataka division also performed well, rising 23.28% to 1.43 MT. However, sales from the division declined slightly by 3.60% to 1.07 MT.
Overall, the strong increase in iron ore production and higher sales highlight healthy operational performance. Apart from iron ore, NMDC is also involved in diamond exploration and production, sponge iron, and wind power generation.
