Although the benchmark indices opened higher, they traded positively throughout the session and ultimately closed in the green.
Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty50, settled off their day's highs as energy supply worries resurfaced in the last hour after reports said that Iran and Israel exchanged further strikes.
At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 326 points (up 0.4%)
Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 112 points higher (up 0.4%)
Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and Titan Company are among the top gainers today.
Kotak Mahindra, HDFC Bank, and Bajaj Finance, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.
The GIFT Nifty was trading at 23,126, higher by 6 points at the time of writing.
The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.6% higher, and the BSE 250 Smallcap index is trading 0.4% higher.
Sectoral indices are trading mixed today, with stocks in the realty sector and the financial services sector witnessing selling pressure. Meanwhile, stocks in the metal sector and the IT sector witnessed buying.
The rupee is trading at Rs 93.7 against the US$.
Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.9% higher at Rs 146,352 per gram.
Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 0.4% higher at 2,32,380 per 1 kg.
Power Grid Gains on Merger Approval
Shares of Power Grid Corporation of India came into focus after the board approved the merger of 28 subsidiaries into two other subsidiaries, expanding the scope of an earlier restructuring plan aimed at simplifying its group structure.
The decision replaces an earlier plan approved on 20 December 2025, which proposed merging 11 subsidiaries into two others.
Previously, Power Grid explained that the merger aims to combine businesses into larger units, reduce the number of group entities, improve efficiency in operations and management, and simplify administrative processes and structure.
Natco Pharma Gains on Demerger Plans
Shares of pharma company Natco Pharma came into focus after a key board meeting scheduled next week to consider a demerger proposal.
Investor sentiment improved after the company informed stock exchanges that its board will meet on 24 March 2026 to consider a proposed restructuring plan. The proposal includes spinning off its agrochemicals business into its wholly owned subsidiary, Natco Crop Health Sciences Ltd.
In a separate development, the drugmaker also announced the launch of Semaglutide injection in India after receiving approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization. Semaglutide is used to treat adults with poorly controlled Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, alongside proper diet and exercise.

Shree Ram Twistex Q3 Results
Shares of Shree Ram Twistex came into focus after the company announced its Q3 FY26 results.
Its revenue increased by 75.2% to Rs 929 million (m), compared to Rs 530 m in the same period last year.
In the December quarter, the company reported a net profit of Rs 37 m, up 70% from Rs 22 m a year ago.
Shree Ram Twistex manufactures a wide range of cotton yarns, including compact ring-spun and carded types used in knitting and weaving.
These yarns are used in products like denim, towels, shirting, sweaters, socks, home textiles, and industrial fabrics, along with value-added options such as Eli Twist, compact slub yarns, and Lycra-blended yarns.
Samvardhana Motherson Dividend Announcement
Shares of Samvardhana Motherson came into focus after the company announced that its Board has approved the declaration of an interim dividend of Rs 0.35 per share for the financial year 2025-2026 to the equity shareholders of the company.
The company has set Friday, 27 March 2026, as the record date to determine shareholders eligible to receive the interim dividend approved by its Board of Directors.
