Although the benchmark indices opened higher, they traded negatively throughout the session and ultimately closed in the red.

Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty50, settled on a negative note as geopolitical tension increased after Iran threatened to seize vessels and change transit rules for the Strait of Hormuz ahead of the US's announcement of sanctions against Iran.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex  closed 172 points lower (down 0.2%)

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 33 points lower (down 0.1%)

Tata Steel, HCL Tech, HUL are the top gainers today.

Bajaj Finance, Trent, and Axis Bank, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The GIFT Nifty was trading at 24,211, 75 points lower at the time of writing.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.01% lower, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.1% lower.

The rupee is trading at Rs 95.7 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.8% higher at Rs 1,63,542 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 0.3% lower at 2,45,882 per 1 kg.

TVS Supply Chain & Sankyu Inc Partnership

Shares of TVS Supply Chain Solutions came into focus after the company announced a strategic partnership with Japan-based Sankyu Inc. to work together across supply chain and engineering services.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), Sankyu plans to acquire a 0.5% stake in TVS Supply Chain Solutions, subject to regulatory approvals.

The partnership will focus on providing customers with a wider range of services, including logistics, warehousing, transportation, engineering, maintenance and on-site industrial support.

The collaboration will initially target opportunities in India, particularly among manufacturing and industrial customers. Over time, the companies plan to expand their partnership across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, combining their capabilities to offer broader supply chain and engineering solutions.

TVS Supply Chain Solutions provides supply chain management services for international organizations, government departments, and large and medium-sized businesses.

Oriental Hotels Shares Rise on IHCL Merger News

Oriental Hotels shares came into focus after the company announced its merger with The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL).

Under the proposed Scheme of Arrangement, shareholders of Oriental Hotels will receive 25 IHCL shares for every 117 Oriental Hotels shares. The merger will be an all-stock transaction, with completion expected in the second half of FY2028 and the appointed date set as April 1, 2027.

According to the company's exchange filing, the merger will bring Oriental Hotels under IHCL through a formal Scheme of Arrangement. The deal is still subject to statutory approvals and regulatory clearances.

Oriental Hotels is currently an associate company of IHCL.
