Sensex Today Ends 109 Points Higher; Nifty Above 24,000

Although the benchmark indices opened higher, they traded positively throughout the session and ultimately closed green.

Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty50 indices, pared some gains from the day's high as metal, pharma, oil, and gas stocks weighed.

Please note that share markets will remain closed on Friday, 26 June 2026, on account of Muharram.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex  closed points 109 higher (up 0.1%)

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 34 points higher (up 0.1%)

M&M, SBI, and HUL were the top gainers today.

Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, and Infosys, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The GIFT Nifty was trading at 24,097 with 74 points higher at the time of writing.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.5% lower, and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.6% lower.

Sectoral indices were trading mixed today, with the metal sector and the oil & gas sector witnessing selling pressure. Meanwhile, stocks in the auto sector and realty sector witnessed buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 94.3 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.5% higher at Rs 1,42,003 per 10 grams.

Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 2% higher at 2,18,138 per 1 kg.

Sterlite Tech Surges on QIP Launch

Shares of Sterlite Technologies came into focus after the company said it launched qualified institutional placement (QIP) issue at a floor price of Rs 613.69 per share.

On June 24, 2026, after market hours, Sterlite Technologies announced the launch of its Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) after receiving approval from its board of directors. The company has invited eligible institutional investors to bid for its equity shares and has set the floor price at Rs 613.69 per share.

A QIP is a fundraising method through which listed companies raise capital from qualified institutional buyers such as mutual funds, insurance companies, pension funds, and foreign investors by issuing new shares.

The company is one of India's largest manufacturers of optical fibre and optical fibre cables and offers a wide range of products, including optical fibres, optical fibre cables, specialty cables, and connectivity solutions used in telecom networks, data centres, and enterprise connectivity projects.

Torrent Power Strengthens Funding Through NCDs

Torrent Power has raised Rs 38 billion through the issuance of non-convertible debentures (NCDs).

The company issued 3.8 lakh secured, rated, listed, taxable, redeemable, and non-convertible debentures on a private placement basis. The fundraising was carried out in four tranches under its Series 15 issue.

These NCDs will offer an annual interest rate (coupon) ranging between 8.10% and 8.20%. The funds raised are expected to support the company's business and financing requirements.

HCLTech Expands AI Partnership with Nokia

HCLTech has expanded its partnership with Nokia to help telecom operators improve network automation using artificial intelligence (AI). As part of the collaboration, HCLTech has introduced four AI-powered applications on Nokia's SMO Marketplace, making them easily accessible to telecom companies worldwide.

These applications are designed to enhance network performance by identifying issues faster, improving energy efficiency, reducing signal interference, and managing network traffic more effectively. The solutions will help telecom operators automate network operations, lower costs, and deliver better service quality to customers.

The expanded partnership also includes a long-term co-innovation roadmap under which HCLTech and Nokia will jointly develop next-generation network automation solutions for 5G and future communication technologies. The initiative aims to support the industry's transition toward AI-driven, self-optimizing, and autonomous networks.
