Rapid depletion of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve threatens U.S. energy security, with only six weeks of supply remaining at current rates.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is supposed to be our country’s emergency supply of oil for unexpected energy shocks. Instead, for years now, it has been actively drained for what I assume are political purposes (in spite of ceaseless statements that we are energy independent). In any case, we are six weeks away from having nothing left, at the current rate.
