Robinhood Markets (HOOD) spent more than a year building its Robinhood Chain around the idea that users would want to trade tokens tied to large companies such as Apple (AAPL) and Nvidia (NVDA).

Two weeks after Robinhood Chain debuted, however, analysts at Bernstein said its early activity had been led by meme coins rather than tokenized equities.

Bernstein reported $3.1Bn in cumulative trading volume over the prior seven days, highlighting a contrast between the chain’s stock-token offering and the assets drawing much of its initial activity.

That contrast is central to Robinhood Chain’s early launch period. The available figures show trading activity across decentralized exchanges and a separate, smaller pool of users who are exposed to stock tokens.

Bernstein described the meme-coin-led volume as showing strong liquidity and traction among crypto-native traders, while also emphasizing Robinhood’s focus on products and services tied to real-world assets.

The Robinhood Chain Tokenization Bet Meets Crypto-Native Demand

Robinhood announced the public mainnet of Robinhood Chain on July 1, 2026. This Layer 2 blockchain, built on the Arbitrum Platform, offers a permissionless environment focused on real-world assets and includes features like lending and borrowing.

Stock Tokens are central to this offering, accessible via Robinhood Wallet in over 120 countries, though availability varies. These tokens can be traded 24/7 on Robinhood Chain and used in lending pools or as trading collateral.

Partnering with exchanges like Uniswap, Rialto, and others, Robinhood enables users to engage in spot trading directly within the wallet. Notably, Uniswap is launching a dedicated automated market maker for this initiative.

A report indicated that while Stock Tokens were available in many countries, they were not accessible in the US, with around 65,000 users having exposure to about $13M in stock tokens. Robinhood Chain is quickly becoming a top destination for on-chain asset trading.

Additionally, Robinhood is rolling out Robinhood Earn, a decentralized lending product for US users that allows them to lend USDG, a dollar-backed token. This feature is powered by the Morpho protocol, and selected users can access perpetual futures on Lighter through Robinhood Wallet.

Memecoins Become the Chain’s Early Growth Engine

In its first two weeks, Robinhood Chain saw significant attention on meme coins, particularly Cash Cat, which had about 25,000 wallets and a market cap of $150M. Other notable mentions included Wen Lambo, Tendies, and Hoodrat.

Bernstein reported that the trading volume was primarily driven by these meme coins, indicating liquidity and interest from crypto-native traders, rather than being separate from the chain’s overall traction.

The $3.1Bn in cumulative volume included activity from decentralized exchanges, while stock tokens accounted for exposure among roughly 65,000 users.

Robinhood’s launch highlighted the chain as a space for builders and real-world asset tokenization, with early meme coin activity showcasing a diverse asset environment beyond just stock tokens.
