When people reject reason, logic, evidence, and cogent thought, you have no choice but to walk away. They will ridicule you for your clear, patient discourse. They will chastise you for your perseverance and consistency. They will castigate you for your methods. They will balk at acceptable evidence. They will immerse themselves in sophistry.
It’s a no-win situation for you; if you give in, you are a slave to lies. If you don’t give in, you fuel their bitterness and anger. Given the choice, I will always take the latter, because while I can neither control nor mitigate someone else’s bitterness, I can control whether or not I give in to dishonesty. I’d rather face another person’s malformed anger than to abandon the pursuit of truth.
Desperate people will try to convince you that logic and reason are flawed. This is a weak, rash attempt to salvage failing arguments… egos… false narratives.
But let’s be clear: logic and reason are never flawed. They demand uncompromising honesty. They demand clear, solid evidence and undeniable (albeit falsifiable) results. When you hear someone demonizing logic and reason, you can bet they have little fuel left with which to drive their waning convictions.
