Quit India Movement — A Call for Freedom
On 8 August 1942, the Quit India Resolution was adopted, marking one of the most powerful chapters of India's freedom struggle.
Mahatma Gandhi gave the nation a historic call:
“Do or Die.”
On 9 August 1942, Gandhi and several other national leaders were arrested. Yet the movement continued. Students, workers, farmers, women and ordinary citizens across India took part in protests and resistance.
The movement demonstrated that the demand for independence had become a mass national aspiration.
Today, we remember not only the prominent leaders, but also the countless unnamed Indians who faced imprisonment, repression and hardship in the struggle for freedom.
Freedom carries the memory of sacrifice.
Let us remember history, learn from it, and value the freedom we have inherited.
Remember. Respect. Reflect.
