Oracle Gap Fill

Oracle shares surged post-earnings to fill a major price gap, yet weak long-term prospects suggest the rally is unsustainable. This technical setup offers a short opportunity with a stop-loss positioned just above the gap.

Since last September Oracle (ORCL) lost most – – yes, the majority!! – – of its market cap. I don’t tend to pay the stock much mind, but after last night’s earnings report sent it ripping higher today, I gave it a peek. I was intrigued to see that it beautifully closed its price gap. Since the long-term prospects for this bloated old company are so grim, I decided to short it with a stop just above the aforementioned price gap.
