Asian stock market traded lower on Friday, following overnight losses on Wall Street, amid renewed concerns over artificial intelligence (AI) boom and elevated in crude oil prices.

Wall Street's benchmark indices ended Thursday, October 8, on a mixed note as investors assessed several developments, including rising bond yields, remarks by US President Donald Trump and higher crude oil prices.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 461 points higher, and NSE Nifty is trading 178 points higher.

TCS, ITC, Infosys are the top gainers today.

Eternal, Bharat Elec, ICICI Bank on the other hand is among the top losers today.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.3% higher and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.07% higher.

Sectoral indices are trading mixed today with stocks in energy sector and telecommunication sector witnesses selling pressure. Meanwhile, stocks in insurance sector and IT sector witnessed buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 96.7 against the US dollar.

Tata Consultancy Services Q2 FY27 Results

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services company, reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 138.84 billion (bn) for the second quarter of FY27, marginally higher than the adjusted profit of Rs 138.49 bn in the preceding quarter.

The company's consolidated revenue from operations rose 1.3 percent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 731.88 bn, compared with Rs 722.75 bn in the previous quarter.

TCS announced a dividend of Rs 12 per share, with October 14, 2026, set as the record date. The dividend will be paid on October 30, 2026.

JSW Steel Q2 FY27 Results

JSW Steel on Thursday reported a 5% year-on-year increase in consolidated crude steel production to 7.27 million tonnes (MT) in the second quarter of FY27, compared with 6.95 MT in the corresponding period last year.

Crude steel production at the company's Indian operations rose 5% year-on-year to 7.07 MT during the July-September quarter.

In a regulatory filing with the BSE, the company said capacity utilisation at its Indian operations stood at 88% during the second quarter. Utilisation improved to around 90% in September 2026, as Blast Furnace 3 at its Vijayanagar plant gradually ramped up production following a shutdown for capacity upgradation.

Consolidated crude steel production for the first half of FY27 increased 4% year-on-year to 13.86 MT, compared with 13.32 MT in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the company said.
