Anadarko (APC)

Things are heating up in the Permian Basin. It all began on April 12th, after Chevron placed a $33b bid to acquire U.S. oil & gas driller Anadarko. A bidding war for Anadarko has since ensued. Occidental, with help from Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway, are offering roughly 20% more than Chevron. The Permian Basin continues to be one of the fastest growing oil production regions in the world, producing about a third of America’s oil.

ConocoPhillips (COP)
The American multinational energy corporation ConocoPhillips has agreed to sell its U.K. subsidiaries to Chrysaor E&P, a company focusing on oil and Gas from the North Sea. The Texas-based oil company will exit its North Sea operations for nearly $2.7b, making the deal the largest of its kind outside of the U.S. this year.
