During the last 24 hours, the U.S. received a massive wave of cyber attacks, mostly targeted at Seattle, D.C. Corridor and, interestingly, the St. Louis area. The U.S. is the target of 90% of these recent attacks.
Urban legend says most attacks originate from China, but the reality is that most cyber attacks originate from within the U.S. and target the U.S. There is even a concocted story that Syria does cyber-attack operations. In my research, I saw zero evidence of attacks coming from Syria, almost none from Iran. China is rarely the target. NATO Warns Cyberattack to Trigger Military Response.
The Norse- IP Viking Live website allows visitors to view the details. At times, cyber-attack shown on the heat map look almost like eruptions. When the eruptions occur, whole regions in China and the U.S. light up. The counter resets when you leave the site and then return.
