Today both, Kite Pharma (KITE) and Bluebird Bio (BLUE) announced a collaboration to develop second generation TCR therapies. This TCR therapy stands for "T Cell Receptor" and it is an immunotherapy aimed platform at using T-cells against cancer. In this type of TCR technology the company re-engineers T-cells to recognize specific antigens on cancerous cells and attack them.

Under the terms of the agreement both companies will jointly develop and commercialize second generation TCR product candidates that specifically target the HPV-16 E6 oncoprotein. Kite will use its technology to edit the genes of the TCR product candidate and Bluebird will provide its lentiviral gene therapy to improve the delivery of the TCR product candidates.
Kite will be responsible for the program on U.S. ground and Bluebird will be responsible for the European territories. In addition Kite will have co-promotion for the European territories, and Bluebird will have a co-promotion in U.S. territories. Kite will give additional details on the collaboration at its upcoming Investor Day event tomorrow, June 23, 2015.
