Is Trade School A Better Bet?

Stop discounting trade school and start thinking about your future!

As the cost of college education continues to rise, many are left wondering if a bachelor’s degree is really worthwhile. The cost of a bachelor’s degree is 82% higher than the cost of an associate’s degree. That’s before taking into account and extra two years of education before entering the workforce, and cost of paying down student debt.

Since 1992, 850% more students are are leaving school with over $50,000 in student loan debt. After 10 years, a worker with a 1-year trade school certificate makes just $1,347 less each year than those with a bachelor’s degree ― Less than the cost of paying off most college debt.

While a bachelor’s degree once all-but guaranteed a good job, nearly half of college graduates under 27 are working in jobs that don’t require a degree. Furthermore, while there was once an abundance of non-degree jobs that would lead to stable career with benefits, today these jobs just don’t measure up.

A bachelor’s degree isn’t worth as much as it once was, but skilled labor is still in high demand. Most of the fastest growing jobs in the United States don’t require a degree, but they do require training beyond high school.
