Data intelligence is shaping the future of the industry and has propelled us into a whole new industrial revolution, industry 4.0. The first industrial revolution began in the 1760s with mechanization. Animals and human labor were beginning to be replaced by machines and tools driven by steam and internal combustion engines that could do more work.
Jump ahead to 1870 and mass production created the second industrial revolution. Assembly lines created increased efficiency and productivity and the use of railways and telegraph lines made the shipment of items easy. By 1950 the third revolution began to take place as the digital age took flight. Electronics and IT began being integrated into manufacturing procedures and telecommunications and computers were on the rise. Since 2011 we have reached our fourth industrial revolution, this time powered by interconnectivity. This higher-level of automation is driven by artificial intelligence allowing for optimized manufacturing.
