Indian Indices Trade Marginally Higher; Telecom Sector Up 2.2%

Share markets in India are presently trading marginally higher. Sectoral indices are trading on a positive note with stocks in the metal sector and telecom sector witnessing maximum buying interest.

Share markets in India are presently trading marginally higher. Sectoral indices are trading on a positive note with stocks in the metal sector and telecom sector witnessing maximum buying interest.

The BSE Sensex is trading up by 29 points (up 0.1%), while the NSE Nifty is trading up by 25 points (up 0.2%). The BSE Mid Cap index is trading up by 0.7%, while the BSE Small Cap index is trading up by 1.5%.

The rupee is trading at 68.99 to the US$.

The Sensex hit a record high today and is presently trading on a positive note.

Note that irrespective of the market sentiment and volatility seen lately, the BSE Sensex is scaling new highs.

But look around you.

How many investors do you still see getting richer everyday?

Fewer than what you saw at the start of the year? Very few?

Well, the Sensex has gained Rs 60 trillion in market cap since 2004. That's a huge number. Nearly a third of the country's GDP. This is evident from the chart below:

In the news from the cement sector, ACC share price is witnessing buying interest today. Gains are seen as the company reported a marginal increase in net profit for the quarter ending June, 2018.

Profit increased to Rs 3,280 million from Rs 3,260 million during the same period last year.

Revenues however decreased to Rs 37.6 billion from Rs 38.2 billion last year, while cement sales volume rose 7.4% to 7.24 million tonnes in the quarter.

At the time of writing, ACC Ltd share price was trading up by 12.2% on the BSE.
