How Social Media Is Driving Charitable Giving

Social media is transforming philanthropy, with Gen Z leading a digital-first approach to charitable giving.

GoFundMe campaigns are gaining visibility through attention-grabbing headlines and content that is easily shared across social media. This trend is particularly pronounced among younger generations. 41% of Gen Z say social media content has motivated them to research or donate to a cause, compared with around 20% of Millennials and Gen X and just 8.5% of Baby Boomers. These figures highlight social media’s growing influence on younger generations and its potential to make charitable giving more visible and widespread.
