How Email Responsiveness Builds Business

Responding to emails in a timely manner can be the difference between success and failure.

In the next two years, it is projected that 126.7 trillion emails will be sent every day. Many of those emails will be from companies to clients who wish to develop repetitive business. Unfortunately, many businesses are failing to meet the client’s expectations. Nearly half of people expect a response in just a few hours. 11% expect one within 15 minutes, 19% within an hour and 14% expect a reply by 4 hours. However, the average response time for sales leads is 42 hours. Response time impacts sales because they give clients a nonverbal clue about how important their business is. Failure to meet a client's expectations can cause them to become frustrated or annoyed which will then lead to decreased interest. Companies that were responsive to their clients within one hour were 7x more successful than those who took twice as long and an incredible 60X more successful than those who took 24+ hours. Responsiveness builds repeat business. 6 in 10 people said they would walk away from a company just after having a few bad experiences. But when expectations were met customers were 80% more likely to continue using a business and in the long term would eventually spend 67% more with them.
