The gap between homebuyers and sellers is continuing to widen. This imbalance is particularly concerning as the number of sellers climbs to 2 million, while the pool of active buyers has fallen below 1.4 million. As more homes enter the market, downward pressure is likely to intensify. The key question is whether a continued decline in interest rates, if it materializes, will be enough to reignite buyer demand and spur a new wave of real estate activity.
