On April 29, the S&P 500’s Health Care sector hit its lowest level of the year, a 10.75% drawdown from its previous February 27 high. Yesterday, Health Care rallied 2.33% to a fresh all-time high, representing a 17.1% gain from April’s low.

All 59 Health Care stocks advanced yesterday, marking the sector’s first perfect-breadth since 11/21/25, and the 16th for any sector this year. Looking further back, Health Care has recorded only five perfect-breadth days over the last five years, the fewest of any sector. By contrast, Energy, which has the fewest constituents, leads with 124 over that span. Despite its strong YTD performance, however, Energy has recorded only five such days in 2026 and nine over the last 52 weeks.

The median Health Care stock gained 2.7% on Tuesday, while 23 rallied more than 3%, as shown below. IQVIA (IQV) led the sector with a gain of nearly 14%, followed by Incyte (INCY) at 9.3%. Eli Lilly (LLY), the sector’s largest constituent by market cap, gained a more modest 2%, but still had the fifth-largest positive impact on the index of any stock, adding 2.37 points.

Currently, 22% of Health Care stocks are at 52-week highs, while none are at 52-week lows. That net reading is the sector’s third-highest this year and ranks within the top 2% of all days over the last five years. It has also risen 20.3 percentage points in just two trading days, the largest two-day increase for Health Care since 4/11/25.
