Google's website for Android One, the platform designed to bring a cohesive Android experience to developing markets, on Wednesday revealed the existence of Android 5.1, a new version of the smartphone platform. Prior to this, the latest version of Android available was 5.0.2 for Nexus smartphones and tablets. Google does not say what is contained in Android 5.1, though a report from Android Pit details a host of changes seen on an Android One device that has allegedly already been updated.
The new features include the restoration of a true silent mode (which was missing in the initial Android 5.0 Lollipop update), improved battery and RAM management, and an updated Material Design color palette.
