Humidity sensors are also known as hygrometers. These sensors measure the humidity in the atmosphere or soil or any other space by sending the electric signals.
Humidity sensors are widely used from domestic and commercial application to industrial application. The residential buildings, offices, air conditioners, heaters and ventilators all use the humidity sensors to regulate and maintain the temperature.
The advancing technologies and equipment are driving the increasing application of humidity sensors. Unlike temperature sensors, humidity sensors have lowered cost of installation and easy to use. But other linked costs are higher that may restrict the growth of the market.
The use of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology in sensing applications has been growing lately. As such, the demand for humidity sensor solutions based on MEMS technology is growing as a result. The rising adoption of wireless sensors in applications, such as greenhouse farming for climate monitoring, is another major factor expected to boost the demand for these sensors over the forecast period.
How could Global Humidity Sensors Market address the COVID-19 concern?
In December 2019, a novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic was reported in Wuhan, China, which is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus. The COVID-19 has been affirmed to have human-to-human, which raised high attention not only in China but internationally. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that there are 118,319 confirmed cases and 4292 deaths globally until March 11, 2020 and evaluated as global pandemic on the same day.
In retrospect studies, the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome, it has been documented that the temperature and its variations might have affected the coronavirus outbreak. A study in Korea found that the risk of influenza incidence was significantly increased with low daily temperature and low relative humidity, a positive significant association was observed for diurnal temperature range. Moreover, temperature has been linked to death from respiratory diseases.
A study demonstrated that absolute humidity had significant correlations with influenza viral survival and transmission rates. Few studies reported that the COVID-19 was related to the meteorological factors, which decreased with the temperature increasing but their effects on the mortality have not been reported. Therefore, we assume that the weather conditions might also contributed to the mortality of COVID-19.
The learning from the AI-based algorithms could then be combined with other information such as laboratory and imaging tests to create a composite mechanism that could help clinicians understand the disease better, and ultimately lead to better detection or prediction of the early signs of infection.
