Just one year since launching, Paris startup Front has raised $3.1M, led by Jeff Clavier’s SoftTech VC, for their collaborative email inbox software. The tool, which is designed to help teams manage ‘group’ email addresses – contact@, tips@, jobs@, etc. – brings Hootsuite-like collaborative messaging and responses to email, making it easy to direct general email inquiries to appropriate responders.

After graduating from Y Combinator earlier this year, Front went on to roll out similar features for Twitter, and is working on building a native mobile application to match their web, mobile, Mac OS and Windows applications.

My take

Notably, Front originally launched their product’s public beta at our Paris Founders Event in April of this year. When I first tried out the private beta back in January, I knew that cofounders Mathilde Collin and Laurent Perrin were on to something.

Personally, I think the products core email features are still not as developed as, say, gmail or airmail. Therefore I would’ve expected more development of the email features before adding Twitter integration; however, this team is very product-focused, and I expect that they will continue to rise among the growing number of product-focused French startups, like Sunrise, Algolia and others.
