Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the United States has remained relatively stable since the early 2000s. While the long-term trend has edged slightly higher, the U.S. currently receives about $218 billion in FDI. FDI represents a significant and long-term investment by foreign companies or governments into the U.S. economy. The current administration has pursued tariffs and other trade measures aimed at encouraging foreign businesses and investors to relocate more of their operations and capital to the United States.
