Are face masks the key to a partial reopening of the economy? There’s been a lot of controversy about face masks, and culturally it’s not something we are used to here in the United States. Even if we know they will help, chances are it’s uncomfortable for us to make such a huge cultural shift overnight and there are bound to be some hiccups along the way. But the fact is, if we all wear face masks it may help reduce the spread, and with such a virulent virus as COVID-19 that may be the key to getting the economy at least partially back up and running.
While it’s true there’s little research into the efficacy of homemade face masks, we do know that they are at least a little effective. If we can prevent one transmission of the virus it will have huge ripple effects.
Homemade face masks are easy to make or to buy, and they can be laundered so they can be worn again and again. Learn more about face masks below.
