Economic Lessons Covid Taught Us That We Already Knew

During the pandemic, economic ties have changed. The pandemic sharply violated the rules that had been established over the years and introduced new ones that we have to live by, perhaps for many years to come.

The COVID-19 pandemic began almost two years ago. During this time, economic ties have changed, the system of international flights has changed, tourism and other spheres of the economic life of society have changed radically. And besides, the perception of personal finance has changed. In a sense, it turned out that the pandemic sharply violated the rules that had been established over the years and introduced new laws. The laws that we have to live by, perhaps for many years to come. What new has appeared in the world of personal finance, how people perceive them today and what lessons we have to learn from the pandemic, we will have a look at everything in the following article.

Lessons are Useful

Lessons are always useful, but not always pleasant. This statement can rightfully be attributed to the lessons of quarantine. First, and perhaps most important, there are no rules that will apply invariably throughout the life of at least one generation. This rule is eternal, but we approach each crisis as if we are hearing about it for the first time. Meanwhile, the generations of people have survived the war in Afghanistan and the collapse of the USSR, grandfathers and grandmothers - World War II, great-grandfathers - the Civil War, etc. All this does not prevent us from believing that our catastrophes ended. This is not the case.

The second lesson, which naturally follows from the first, is that you have to rely on yourself and be ready, if not for everything, then for a lot. Be prepared, including financially. Those who could afford to get through the transition period or even the complete loss of their jobs without any problems were much more likely to stay healthy than those who were forced to run interviews in the midst of the next wave.

The third lesson concerns directly the types of employment. We learned to work remotely and began to devote more time to education. And in general, we realized that the world does not stand still and we do not need to stop. It is vocational training and the search for new sources of income that open up a huge number of new opportunities for today's generations. Thousands of people have started their journey to different jobs. in the past 18 months.

Finally, the fourth lesson follows from the third and can be formulated as follows: you can achieve something in a crisis only by moving forward. This applies to both people themselves and large companies. Those who were able to quickly shift to a new model based on remote employment, online communication and wire transfers have done well.

COVID-19 has seriously accelerated the fourth industrial revolution. Since March 2020, there has been an explosive growth in the quantity and quality of a variety of online services, be it grocery delivery, access to government services, virtual cultural events, bank payments or distance learning. This was caused by the urgent need to avoid physical contact between people. But online tools have already become part of our life, they have become extremely in demand, familiar and necessary every day.
