Monday: January Retail Sales data will see light in Japan. The Final estimate of January’s Consumer Confidence Index data will see light for the Eurozone. In Germany, the preliminary estimate of January’s Consumer Price Index data will see light, where analysts expect annual inflation to hit the ECB’s target of 2%. In the U.S., December’s Personal Income and Personal Spending data will see light.
Tuesday: In Japan, December’s Jobless Rate data will see light, currently at 3.1%. The preliminary estimate of December’s Industrial Production will also be released. CPI data will see light in France, where analysts expect annual inflation to rise to 1.0%. Annual inflation will also see light in Spain, where analysts expect a surge to 2.4%. Unemployment data will see light in Germany. In the U.S., January’s Chicago Purchasing Managers’ Index will see light, as will the Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index. Pfizer and Apple will also announce the fourth quarter’s earnings.
Wednesday: January Markit Purchasing Managers’ Indices will see light globally, most of which in the positive, over 50 point, territory. In the U.S., the weekly MBA Mortgage Applications will see light. January’s ADP Employment Change will also see light, as will the ISM Manufacturing PMI and December’s Construction Spending. The Fed is scheduled to announce interest rates, and while a hike seems unlikely, it could come with some forward guidance. Facebook will announce the quarter’s earnings.
Thursday: The Bank of England is scheduled to announce interest rates, currently at 0.25%. In the U.S, the weekly Initial Jobless Claims will see light. Amazon will release quarterly earnings.
Friday: January’s Nonfarm data will see light in the U.S., as will January’s Unemployment figure, having settled at 4.7%, and Factory Orders and Durable Goods’ Orders data.
