Economic Events Of The Coming Week - 8/24/2015

On Wednesday look for the weekly MBA Mortgage Applications, followed by July’s Durable Goods Orders’ data; and on Friday, July Personal Income and Spending data and the University of Michigan’s Consumer Sentiment Index will be released.

Monday: July’s Chicago Fed National Activity Index will see light in the U.S.

Tuesday: Final estimates for Gross Domestic Product for the second quarter will see light in Germany. This will be followed by August’s IFO surveys, where the analyst consensus sees a slight deterioration in the business climate survey, from a current 108 points, to 107.6. Preliminary Composite and Services Purchasing Managers’ Indices will see light for August in the U.S. These will be followed by July New Home Sales data and Augusts’ Consumer Confidence Index, both of which have analysts expecting improvements.

Wednesday: The weekly MBA Mortgage Applications will see light in the U.S. It will be followed by July’s Durable Goods Orders’ data.

Thursday: August’s Nationwide House Prices data will see light in the U.K. August’s Manufacturing Confidence data is scheduled for release in France. The Eurozone’s M3 Money supply data for July is scheduled to see light. Given the circumstances in the markets, the weekly Gold and Forex Reserve announcement in Russia will be an extra interesting one. In the U.S., the second estimate for Gross Domestic Product will see light. It will be followed by the weekly Initial Jobless Claims

Friday: Labor market data will see light in Japan. It will be followed by the Japanese Consumer Price Index for the month of July, in which analysts expect annual inflation to decrease to 0.2% from a current 0.4%. Preliminary August Consumer Price Index data are also scheduled for release in Spain. In the U.K., preliminary Q2 Gross Domestic Product data will see light, though analysts expect little change over the current estimate. Preliminary Consumer Price Index data for August will also see light in Germany. In the U.S., July Personal Income and Spending data will see light, as will the University of Michigan’s Consumer Sentiment Index.

Saturday: While most markets will be closed, the week will conclude with Fed Vice Chair Fischer giving remarks on Inflation Developments. This one is expected to give an important signal on the Fed’s intentions for the September 17th rate announcement.
