Stocks finished higher on Friday as Big Tech gained, with Meta Platforms (META) rising 6% to notch its best week since February 2024. The Dow closed up 149 points, but still ended the week lower, snapping its four-week win streak. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq secured their second-straight weekly wins with modest gains, as investors keep an eye on Middle East tensions. Meanwhile, Wall Street's "fear gauge," the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX) dropped to its lowest level since January 13.




Oil Prices Rise for the Week
Oil prices cooled for the second day after a midweek spike. August-dated West Texas Intermediate (WTI) shed 0.9% to $71.41 a barrel, still adding 4% for the week.
Gold prices moved lower as U.S.-Iran tensions lifted expectations of higher interest rates. August-dated gold futures fell 0.7% to $4,113.10 per ounce for the day, dropping 0.2% for the week.
