The Dow closed lower for the session but logged a fifth-straight monthly win, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq also finished in the red today but posted their first monthly gains since May. Gold futures extended Friday's losses as rate-hike buzz loomed. December-dated gold fell 1% to settle near $4,482.60 for the day and added 9.4% for the month.
