Data is power. We have more data than we ever have before in human history about more topics than most people realize. The only problem is that we don’t always know what to do with that data or what it means. But if we can look at data and find certain things, we can use that information to solve problems that seem unsolvable. That’s where we are with medical data and COVID-19. Currently we don’t know much about the pandemic, but examining information about people who have contracted it or come into contact with it can give us some clues.
Until now, the only way to detect COVID-19 was with testing and temperature checks. But close examination of data from nursing home patients has revealed that drops in pulse oxygen can show a COVID-19 infection as much as two weeks before the onset of a fever.
