Three key data points gauge dividend equities or funds like Cisco Systems Inc:
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.
CSCO Price
Cisco Systems Inc's price per share closed at $52.57 yesterday. One year ago its price was $40.32. Price per share has increased over 30% from the midst of the Covid market slump.
Should Cisco stock trade in the range of $35 to $65 this year, its recent $52.57 price might rise by $2.43 to reach $55.00 by March 29, 2022. My estimate is About $3 above that of twenty-five analysts tracking CSCO.
CSCO Dividends
Cisco's most recently declared quarterly dividend was $0.37, payable April 28th. Dividends are estimated to total $1.48 per share annually and yield 2.82% at yesterday's $52.57 closing price. CSCO has paid annually increasing dividends for eleven years.
CSCO Returns
Adding the $1.48 annual CSCO anticipated dividend to my $2.43 price upside estimate shows a $3.91 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.
Put little under $1,000.00 today in Cisco Systems Inc at $52.57 per share and we'd buy 19 shares of CSCO stock.
A $10 broker fee (if charged) would be paid half at purchase and half at the sale and might cost us about $0.53 per share.
Subtract that maybe $0.53 brokerage cost from my estimated $3.91 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $3.38 X 19 shares = $64.22 for a 6.4% net gain on a $998.83 investment.
Cisco Systems Inc shows a possible 6.4.3% net gain including a 2.82% dividend yield.
Over the next year at this time, a $1000 investment in CSCO could generate $28.20 in cash dividends. And a single share bought at yesterday's closing price was about $53! So, if CSCO is your kind of technology investment, their price is almost twice the annual dividend income from $1,000 invested. This suggests that you wait for CSCO's price to drop to about $40 before adding these shares to your portfolio.
All of the estimates above are speculation based on the past history of Cisco Systems Inc. Only time and money invested in this stock will determine its worth.
