The company was founded in 1855 and is headquartered in Fornebu, Norway.

Telenor ASA (TELNY) provides telecommunications, data, and media services through five segments: Nordics, Asia, Infrastructure, Amp, and Other.

Three key data points gauge TELNY (or any dividend-paying entity):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

TELNY Price

Telenor’s single share price fell $1.65 (or about 10.6%) from $15.54 to $13.89 in the past year, per Tuesday’s opening market report.

Two analysts cover the stock, and the median of their one-year target price estimates predicts a nearly $1.16 upside for the coming year.

However, the average of the past thirteen-year price progression shows an average annual gain of about $0.75. When averaged with the analyst estimate computes $0.955 as an annual return, after I discuss TELNY dividends.

TELNY Dividends

Telenor ASA has paid variable Annual dividends since June 2001. The most recent Semi-Annual dividend of $0.50 is payable November 3 (to shareholders of record October 16th, yielding 7.22% annually (per Tuesday’s opening market report)

TELNY Returns

Putting it all together, as of August 11th, a possible gross gain of $1.955 was projected. The $0.955 per share average annual gain was added to the $1.00 forward-looking annual dividend to make that $1.955 gross gain.

A little over $1000 invested in TELNY at Tuesday’s $13.89 opening share price would buy 72 shares, which multiply the $1.955 gross gain to $143.64 for the coming year, or 14.36%.

My dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a dividend stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is greater than the cost of one share.

TELNY’s projected annual dividend from $1K invested is $72.20, and that annual dividend proves to be just about 5.2 times more than the recent $13.89 single-share price.

The exact track of TELNY’s future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
