The company was founded in 1960 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
Rogers Communications, Inc. (RCI) provides wireless communications services through its three segments: Wireless, Cable, and Media.
Three key data points gauge RCI (or any dividend-paying entity):
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.
RCI Price
Rogers’ single share price rose $0.22 (or about 0.06%) from $33.87 to $34.09 in the past year, per Monday’s opening market report.
Eighteen analysts cover the stock, and the median of their one year targets pride estimates predicts a nearly $8.00 upside for the coming year.
However, the average of the past twenty-four-year price progression shows an average annual gain of about $1.25, which I’ll use for the annual return after I discuss RCI dividends.
RCI Dividends
Rogers Communications has paid variable Annual dividends since December 2006. The most recent Quarterly dividend of $0.35 is payable October 12 (to shareholders of record September 8th, yielding 4.12% annually (per Friday’s closing market report)
RCI Returns
Putting it all together, as of August 10th, a possible gross gain of $2.65 was projected. The $1.25 per share average annual gain was added to the $1.40 forward-looking annual dividend to make that $2.65 gross gain.
A little under $1000 invested in RCI at Monday’s $34.09 opening share price would buy 29 shares, which multiply the $2.65 gross gain to $77.74 for the coming year, or 7.77%.
My dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a dividend stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is greater than the cost of one share.
RCI’s projected annual dividend from $1K invested is $41.20, and that annual dividend proves to be just about $7.00 more than the recent $34.09 single-share price.
The exact track of RCI’s future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.
Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
