The company was founded in 1957 and is headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia.

PT Astra International Tbk (PTAIY) provides mining, transportation, agriculture, and construction services in Indonesia.

Three key data points gauge PTAIY (or any dividend-paying entity):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

PTAIY Price

PT Astra’s single share price fell $1.10 (or about 17%) from $6.44 to $5.34 in the past year, per Monday’s opening market report.

No analysts cover the stock. However, the average of a past six-year price progression shows an average annual gain of about $0.49. Which I’ll use as an annual return, after I discuss PTAIY dividends.

PTAIY Dividends

PT Astra International has paid variable Semi-Annual dividends since July 2010. The most recent Semi-Annual dividend of $0.33 was paid June 15 (to shareholders of record May 6th) yielding 12.47% annually (per Monday’s opening market report)

PTAIY Returns

Putting it all together, as of August 17th, a possible gross gain of $1.156 was projected. The $0.49 per share average annual gain was added to the $0.666 forward-looking annual dividend to make that $1.156 gross gain.

A little under $1000 invested in PT Astra International at Monday’s $5.34 opening share price would buy 187 shares, which multiply the $1.156 gross gain to $216.48 for the coming year, or 21.65%.

My dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a dividend stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is greater than the cost of one share.

PTAIY’s projected annual dividend from $1K invested is $124.70, and that annual dividend proves to be just about 23.35 times more than the recent $5.34 single-share price.

The exact track of PTAIY’s future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
