Current Report: Peyto Exploration & Development May Grow 17.29% Next Year

Peyto Exploration targets a 17.29% total return next year, driven by a 5.82% dividend yield and steady price growth.

Peyto Exploration and Development Corporation (PEYUF) was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.

The company explores, develops, and produces oil and natural gas. Its three operations are (1)deep basin, (2) marketing, and (3) reserves.

Three key data points gauge PEYUF (or any dividend-paying entity):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

PEYUF Price

Peyto Exploration’s single share price rose $3.74 or 27.24% in the past year, from $13.73 to $17.47 per Wednesday’s opening market report.

Eleven analysts cover the stock. The median of their one-year target estimates showed a $12.59, or 72% price gain ahead.

However, PEYUF’s past five years' price progression from $7.57 to $17.47 shows an average annual gain of about $2.00 as a prediction for the coming year’s returns. I’ll use that number to calculate returns after I discuss PEYUF dividends.

PEYUF Dividends

Peyto Exploration and Development has paid variable Monthly dividends since August, 2003.

The most recent M dividend of $0.0847 is payable October 15th, 2026 (to shareholders of record September 29th), yielding $1.0164 or 5.82% annually (per Wednesday’s opening market report)

PEYUF Returns

Putting it all together, as of October 13th, a possible Peyto Exploration and Development gross gain of $3.02 was projected.

To get there, our $2.00 per share calculated annual price gain was added to the $1.0164 presumed forward-looking annual dividend to make that $3.02 gross gain.

A little over $1000 invested in PUYUF at Wednesday’s $17.47 opening share price would buy 57.24 shares which multiply the hypothetical $3.02 gross gain to $172.87 for the coming year, or about 17.29%.

By the way, my dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a dividend stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is greater than the cost of one share.

Peyto Exploration and Development’s projected annual dividend from $1K invested is $58.20, and that annual dividend proves to be over 3.33 times more than its recent $17.47 single-share price.

The exact track of PEYUF’s future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
