Opera Ltd (OPRA) was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Oslo, Norway.
The company provides web browsers through subsidiaries. Its products include Opera browser for Windows, iOS, and Linux computers, as well as mobile apps, Opera for Android, Opera Mini, Opera Touch, and Opera News.
Three key data points gauge OPRA (or any dividend-paying entity):
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.
OPRA Price
Opera’s single-share price rose $1.89, or near 12.25%, in the past year, from $15.42 to $17.41 per Wednesday’s opening market report.
Seven analysts cover the stock and the median of heir one year price targets projected an $8.88 gain in the coming year.
However, OPRA’s past three-year price progression from $10.70 to $17.41 shows an average annual gain of about $2.23 as a prediction for the coming year’s returns. I’ll use that number to calculate returns after I discuss
OPRA’s dividends.
OPRA Dividends
Opera Ltd has paid semi-annual dividends since February 2023.
The most recent SA dividend of $0.40 was paid July 15th, 2024 (to shareholders of record July 7th that year), yielding $0.80 or 4.55% annually (per Wednesday’s opening market report)
OPRA Returns
Putting it all together, as of October 21st, a possible Opera Ltd gross gain of $3.03 was projected.
To get there, our $2.23 per share calculated annual price gain was added to the $0.80 presumed forward-looking annual dividend to make that $3.03 gross gain.
A little over $1000 invested in OPRA at Monday’s $17.41 opening share price would buy 17.5 shares, which multiply the hypothetical $3.03 gross gain to $174.04 for the coming year, or about 17.40%.
By the way, my dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a dividend stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is greater than the cost of one share.
Opera Ltd’s projected annual dividend from $1K invested is $45.50, and that annual dividend proves to be 2.6 times more than its Wednesday $17.41 single-share price.
The exact track of Opera Ltd’s future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.
Remember the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
