Open Text was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Waterloo, Canada.
The company provides enterprise information management software and solutions. It also offers consulting, managed, and learning services.
Three key data points gauge OTEX (or any dividend paying entity):
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.
OTEX Price
Open Text’s single share price fell $1.89 or near 12.25% in the past year, from $39.17 to $27.49 per Thursday’s mid-market report.
Twelve analysts cover the stock and the median of heir one year price targets projected an $0.45 gain in the coming year.
However, OTEX’s past twenty year price progression from $4.52 to $27.51 shows an average annual gain of about $1.15 as a prediction for the coming year’s returns. I’ll use that number to calculate returns after I discuss
OTEX’s dividends.
OTEX Dividends
Open Text Corporation has paid quarterly dividends since June, 2013.
The most recent Q dividend of $0.28 was paid September 18th, 2026 (to shareholders of record September 4th this year) yielding $1.12 or 4.07% annually (per Thursday’s midday market report.)
OTEX Returns
Putting it all together, as of October 22nd, a possible Open Text gross gain of $2.27 was projected.
To get there, our $1.15 per share calculated annual price gain was added to the $1.12 presumed forward looking annual dividend to make that $2.27 gross gain.
A little over $1000 invested in OTEX at Thursday’s $27.49 mid-day share price would buy 36.4 shares which multiply the hypothetical $2.27 gross gain to $82.58 for the coming year, or about 8.26%.
By the way, my dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a dividend stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is greater than the cost of one share.
Open Text Corporation’s projected annual dividend from $1K invested is $41.90 and that annual dividend proves to be over 1.5 times more than its Thursday $27.49 single-share price.
The exact track of Open Text Corporation’s future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.
Remember the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
