OneMain Holdings (OMF) was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Evansville, IN.
OneMain Holdings Inc. is a consumer finance company that originates, underwrites, and services personal loans, primarily to non-prime customers.
Three key data points gauge OMF (or any dividend-paying entity):
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.
OMF Price
OneMain Holdings’ single share price dropped by $1.90, or 3.2%, falling from $59.19 to $57.29 in the past year, per Tuesday’s opening market report.
Fifteen analysts cover the stock and set a one-year price target $9.78 higher at $67.07
However, OMF’s past three-year price progression from $38.23 to $57.29 shows an average annual gain of $6.35. I’ll use that number as a prediction for the coming year’s returns. I’ll use that $6.35 three-year projection number to calculate returns after I discuss OMF’s dividends.
OMF Dividends
OneMain Holdings has paid variable quarterly dividends since March, 2019.
The most recent Q dividend of $1.05 per share is payable November 13, 2026 (to shareholders of record November 9th). (There’s time to get it!) The total annual dividend of $4.20 yields 7.33% annually (per Tuesday’s opening market report)
OMF Returns
Putting it all together, as of November 3rd, a possible OneMain Holdings gross gain of $10.55 was projected.
To get there, our $6.35 per share three-year annual price gain was added to a $4.20 presumed forward-looking annual dividend to make that $10.55 gross gain.
A little over $1000 invested in OMF at Tuesday’s $57.29 opening price would buy 17.5 shares, which multiply the hypothetical $10.55 gross gain to $184.15 for the coming year, or about 18.42%.
By the way, a dividend dogcatcher guideline is to only buy initial shares of a dividend stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is more than the cost of one share.
OneMain Holdings’ projected annual dividend from $1K invested is $73.30, and that annual dividend proves to be 1.28 times more than its Tuesday $57.29 single-share opening price.
The exact track of OneMain Holdings’ future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.
Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
