The company was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Bad Homburg, Germany.
Fresenius Medical Care AG (FMS) provides products and services for individuals with renal diseases.
Three key data points gauge FMS (or any dividend-paying entity):
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.
FMS Price
Fresenius Medical single share price fell $0.90 (or about 20%) from $28.78 to $22.12 in the past year, per Monday’s morning market report.
Seven analysts cover the stock. The median of their one-year price targets set a target $5.00 higher, at $27.12. However, twenty-four years of price history show an average $0.56 price gain, which I’ll use to calculate returns after I discuss dividends.
FMS Dividends
Fresenius Medical has paid annual dividends since June 1998. The most recent dividend of $0.87 is payable June 8 (to shareholders on record as of May 22) for a forward annual yield of 4.04%
FMS Returns
Putting it all together, as of May 18, a possible gross gain of $1.43 was projected. The $0.56 per share annual gain was added to the $0.87 forward looking annual dividend.
A little under $1000 invested in FMS at Monday’s $22.10 opening share price would buy 45 shares, which multiply the $1.43 gross gain to $64.70 for the coming year, or 6.47%.
My dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a dividend stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is more than the cost of one share.
Fresenius’s annual dividend from $1K invested is $40.40. So FMS shows a dividend from $1,000 invested just over 1.8 times its 22.10 single share price of Monday.
The exact track of FMS’s future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.
Remember, the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
