Altria Group (MO) was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Richmond, VA.

The company manufactures and sells cigarettes in the United States. It operates through three segments: Smokeable Products, Oral Tobacco Products, and All Other.

Three key data points gauge MO (or any dividend paying entity):

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three keys also indicate if any company has made, is making, and will make money.

MO Price

Altria Group’s single share price increased $0.55 (or 11.85%) from $58.15 to $66.45 last year, per Tuesday’s morning market report.

Fourteen analysts cover the stock.

The medan of their one year price targets set a price $65.50, near $1.00 lower.

However MO’s average annual price increase was $7.34 over the past three years.  So I’ll use that amount for the following calculations.

MO Dividends

Altria Group has paid quarterly dividends since July 1989 The April 2026 Q dividend of $1.06 has been declared for shareholders on record as of March 25th, which portends a $4.24 annual dividend payout.

MO Returns

Putting it all together, a possible annual gross gain of $11.58 per share is predicted by adding the $4.24 forward-looking dividend to a 1yr  $7.34 estimated annual price-gain this year.

A little over $1000 invested at Tuesday’s $66.42 share price would buy 15 shares which multiply the $11.58 estimated gross gain to a $174.35 upside for the coming year.

36.34% of that $174 upside gain could come from a $63.30 annual dividend payout from your $1,000 investment.

And the $63.30 annual dividend from $1k invested is near $3.25 lower thanAltria Group’s $66.55 single share price.

A dividend dogcatcher rule is to only buy initial shares of a stock that pay an annual dividend (from $1000 invested) that is more than the cost of a single share.

Altria Group’s dividend is $3.25 below its share price. Wait for MO price to drop below $63 or even lower.

The exact track of Altria Group’s  future share price and dividend will entirely be determined by market action and company finances.

Remember the best way to track stock performance and dividend payments is through direct ownership of company shares.
