Chery Group (9973.HK) sales reached 280,128 vehicles in August, up 15.4%, while exports accounted for roughly 70% of the monthly total. From January through August, Chery sold 1.91 million vehicles, up 10.8%, including 1.34 million exports, up 68.1%.
New-energy vehicles were another growth driver. Chery sold 120,909 NEVs in August, up 69.8% year on year and above 100,000 units for the fifth consecutive month. Eight-month NEV sales rose 46.2% to 725,214 vehicles.
By the end of August, Chery said it had more than 20.44 million vehicle users globally, including over 7.18 million outside China. The scale reflects the company’s long-established overseas sales network and its expansion across both conventional and new-energy vehicles.
The milestone is an export-volume achievement, not a disclosure of overseas revenue or profit. Its next test is whether shipment scale can be converted into durable local operations: manufacturing, distribution, after-sales service, brand development and compliance in increasingly regulated overseas markets.
